Welcome. The Betting Forum is the sister site of The Racing Forum, which has hosted intelligent racing discussion since 2000, and it runs on the same principles: real people, honest opinions, no touting. This guide covers the practical side of getting started.
Your account
If you are already a member of The Racing Forum, log in here with your usual username and password: it is one account across both sites. If you are new, registration is free and takes a minute. If a password has stopped working, use Lost Password and a reset link will be emailed to you.
Once you are in, visit your profile (click your username anywhere on the forum) to add an avatar, a short bio and, if you like, a signature that appears under your posts. Please keep signatures short and free of links to anything commercial.
Finding your way around
The Forums page lists every board. Strategy forums come first (Betting Strategy & Bankroll, and Bookmakers, Offers & Exchanges), then one forum per sport, then Forum Competitions and the Lounge for everything else. Horse racing discussion lives on The Racing Forum; the Horse Racing entry will take you straight there. Site News & Feedback is where we announce changes and where you can tell us what is broken or what you would like to see.
The Articles section holds our longer pieces on strategy and sport-by-sport betting. Take any of them into the relevant forum for discussion; disagreement is welcome.
Posting
Open a forum and use the form at the bottom to start a topic. Give it a clear title (“Championship 2026/27: promotion market thoughts” beats “Anyone fancy anything?”) and post it in the right place. To reply, use the form at the bottom of any topic. You can quote another member’s post with the Quote button, attach an image with the attachment control, and format text with the toolbar. Edits are allowed for a short window after posting; after that, ask a moderator.
Following the conversation
- Subscribe to a topic or a whole forum and you will get an email when there is a new reply. Manage subscriptions from your profile.
- Favourite a topic to keep it in a list on your profile without emails.
- The Users Online box in the footer shows who is around; the homepage shows the newest topics across every forum.
Private messages
Use Messaging to contact another member directly. Messages are private, but the same rules apply as everywhere else: no selling, no abuse. If you receive anything that breaks the rules, report it to a moderator rather than replying.
Posting tips and results
Tips are welcome: that is a large part of what the forum is for. Two requests. Post the price you took and where, so others can judge whether it is still available. And record your results honestly, in the thread, losers included. Members who keep an honest record earn respect here; members who only mention winners do not last long. A few house habits
- Search before you start a new thread; the discussion you want may already be going.
- Argue with the argument, never the person.
- If something looks like spam or touting, report it and move on.
- Look after each other. If a member seems to be struggling with their betting, point them to the Responsible Gambling page, kindly.
