Forum Rules
Everyone here wants the same thing: sharp, honest, friendly betting discussion. These rules exist to keep it that way. They apply to every forum, topic, reply, private message and profile on The Betting Forum, and they sit alongside our Terms of Use.
The rules
- Play the ball, not the player. Disagree with an argument as hard as you like, but no personal abuse, insults or attacks on other members.
- No hate speech. Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, religious or other discriminatory content will be removed and the account banned. There are no warnings for this one.
- Keep it clean. Swearing and crude language may seem mild to you and offensive to someone else. Please keep it out.
- No touting, selling or spam. Do not post or message to sell tips, systems, accounts or services, promote paid tipsters, or drop affiliate and referral links. Bookmaker offers may be discussed in the Bookmakers, Offers & Exchanges forum, but not in a way that tries to earn you a commission.
- Be honest about results. If you post tips, record them as they were given, at the price available, and count the losers as carefully as the winners. Edited history and “I told you so” threads help nobody.
- One account each. Duplicate accounts, and accounts created to get around a ban, will be removed.
- Respect privacy. Do not post anyone’s personal details, private messages or off-forum correspondence without their permission.
- Respect copyright. Link to articles, stats and pictures rather than copying them wholesale. Short quotes with attribution are fine.
- Stay on topic. Post in the right forum and keep threads about what they say on the tin. The Lounge is there for everything else.
- Nothing illegal. No content that is defamatory, encourages illegal activity, or relates to match-fixing, betting on behalf of minors or the use of stolen or shared bookmaker accounts.
Moderation
Moderators may edit, move, lock or delete content and may warn, suspend or ban members at their discretion. We will not always enter into discussion about a moderation decision. If you think a post breaks the rules, use the report link or message a moderator rather than replying in kind. Persistent problems that demand a disproportionate amount of moderation time may lead to suspension even where no single rule has been broken.
Responsible gambling
Please look out for one another. If a member appears to be chasing losses or betting beyond their means, a quiet word or a pointer to our Responsible Gambling page is the kind thing to do.
